apparently Theo and Jed have locked up Anthony Rizzo for the next six years
yes very very good
Here’s another stupid logo for a blog of mine (Which you should totally follow if you’re a Cubs fan or just like baseball in general wink wink)
Used scorecard artwork from Otis Shepard and the best part is it’s in GIF form!
why am I not surprised that that just happened
welp
Send Castro and Rizzo down to Des Moines?
wow gee what a jolly good idea Sveum
Chicago Cubs Scorecard Designs from 1950-1958, by Otis Shepard.
so Julio Borbon debuts in a Cubs uniform as a pinch runner and promptly gets thrown out trying to swipe second base
Cubs baseball
I am going to very very blunt about this
But the Cubs’ bullpen is goddamn awful
Sveum also says if Fujikawa does good then this move could be long-term. Which I’m all for.
Also, appropriate music.
A (Quick) Write-Up: Chicago Cubs vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
One of the things I asked myself going into this Opening Day was “Is it really worth it to stay up until 1:35AM to watch a team that was terrible last year start another season?”
It is now almost 5AM, I can hear roosters and one thing I can say is that it certainly did pay off.
Now, here’s Jeff Samardzija. He’s got stuff. He’s also proved that he has control. And most of all he arguably has the best hair since…probably any Cub in the last fifty years. But if I’m going to define Jeff Samardzija’s 2013 Opening Day start in two words it would be this: Holy cow. And if anybody remembers, this guy was the setup for our very wonderful slider-happy closer two years ago. This guy was a freak for eight innings, and the Pirates couldn’t do anything to his pitches, or to his hair. Also there was a Carlos Marmol ninth, but I’m not going to write anything regarding his outing because I’ve seen too much of that crap.
And also there’s Anthony Rizzo and Wellington Castillo and Starlin Castro and Nate Schierholtz and Kyuji Fujikawa, but right now I’m really tired to write anything more about these guys and I’m supposed to have breakfast in two hours and I want to sleep.
But thanks Cubs, you guys were awesome tonight/today.
The time is now 1:27AM (YES 1:27AM) and I am anxiously waiting for the first pitch.
Do not disappoint, Northsiders.
